Measles
Cases are on the rise and the disease is highly infectious.
Measles is more than just a rash and can lead to serious complications including Meningitis and blindness, particularly in babies and young children. In fact, 1 in 15 children who contract measles develop serious complications.
The best way to protect your children from this serious and preventable disease is to keep their vaccinations up to date. The Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is safe and has been used since the early 1980's. The vaccination is available to adults and children that are not fully vaccinated.
Please contact the surgery on 01482 341423 if you are unsure if your family is fully protected against Measles, Mumps and rubella. The surgey will shortly be sending out texts to patients who we believe are not fully vaccinated, offering you the opportunity to book an appointment.
Electronic Repeat Dispensing Scheme (eRD)
We are working on putting our patients onto the Electronic Repeat Dispensing Scheme (eRD).
This means we will review your regular or repeat prescriptions and send enough medication electronically to a pharmacy of your choice up until your next birthday. During the month of your birthday, you will be invited in for bloods/BP (if appropriate) then your eRD will be set back up again.
You do not need to do anything.
You can then collect your monthly medication from your pharmacy when you have 5 to 7 days left of your current supply, if you have your prescription delivered to your home then you do not need to do anything.
Your GP will set up eRD for you.
Benefits of eRD allows your GP to prescribe your regular medicines for up to a year. It’s reliable, secure, and confidential. Your regular prescriptions are stored securely on the NHS database, so they'll be ready at the pharmacy each time you need them.
Using eRD you can:
- Save time by avoiding unnecessary trips or calls to your GP every time you need to order a repeat prescription
- Pick up your repeat prescriptions directly from your pharmacy without having to visit your GP
- Spend less time waiting for your prescription in the pharmacy or GP practice,
You can find more information at: www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/eRD-patients
If you are interested in using this scheme, please contact the surgery and your details will be passed to our pharmacy team.
